If you’ve seen Dosage V, no doubt you remember the scenes of Dave Graham and his cronies pulling down at an Arkansas dude ranch. Even if you don’t climb V14, Horseshoe Canyon Ranch has plenty to offer. Though the quantity of problems isn’t that high, the rock is good quality, the problems are varied and fun. Access All the climbing at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch is located on private property and daily fees are $5 per person. Be sure to check in as soon as you arrive. Seasons Climbing is best in the spring, fall, and intermittently through the winter. Accommodations There is primitive camping for $5 a night. Showers are available, but not included in the price. Cabins are also available; rates vary over the year. Call (800) 480-9635 for prices and reservations. Food The small town of Jasper is 7.5 miles from the ranch and has a grocery store as well as several restaurants. We’d recommend the Ozark Café, a small diner with a lot of history. Distractions The ranch also has both sport and trad climbing, a disc golf course, a herd of goats and plenty of city folk who wish they were cowboys. |
